Addition Reactions of Aldehydes & Ketones

Draw the major product from each of the reactions shown below. In reactions 2, 3 & 4 assume an acid catalyst is present, and that water is also formed.
To draw a formula use the drawing window on the left below. Do not draw hydrogen atoms. When you are finished, check your answer by pressing the Check Molecule # button. A help screen is available for the drawing window.

1.
Reaction 1: benzaldehyde plus HCN, asking for the major product (cyanohydrin)
2.
Reaction 2: cyclopentanone plus ethylene glycol, acid catalyzed, asking for the major product (cyclic acetal)
3.
Reaction 3: cyclohexanone plus pyrrolidine, acid catalyzed, asking for the major product (enamine)
4.
Reaction 4: isobutyraldehyde (CH3)2CHCHO plus hydroxylamine, acid catalyzed, asking for the major product (oxime)
