Alkene Transformations 1

Organic chemical reactions generally have three components: Reactants, Reagents & Products.

In this problem we shall consider three isomeric alkene reactants:

3-methyl-1-butene 2-methyl-2-butene 2-methyl-1-butene

These compounds may be reacted with eight different reagents:

HCl Br2 HOBr Hg(OAc)2
(aq. mercuric acetate)
NaBH4 B2H6
(BH3 in ether)		 H2O2
(in aq. NaOH)		 KMnO4
(in water)
