Identifying Monomers

Polymer Matching Problem

In the box following the formula for each polymer (1 - 7) enter a letter designating the monomer(s) from which the polymer could be made. These are shown in the table on the right (A - L).

Seven polymer repeat-unit structures (1-7): Kel-F, Carbowax, Delrin, Silicone, and three polyester/nitro chains. Twelve candidate monomers A-L: lactone, formaldehyde, dimethyldichlorosilane, nitroethene, chlorotrifluoroethene, anhydride+diol, dichlorodifluoroethene, ethylene oxide, oxetane, nitropropyne, SiO2+CH3I.
